Shhh! Don’t Tell Republicans That Women Vote!

Unemployment is going down but is still at an unacceptable number. People in this country are hurting. They’re still losing their homes and the fact that the rate of foreclosure has slowed gives no comfort to those who are packing up and moving out of the dream they thought was theirs. Our infrastructure is crumbling. Our cities and states are struggling to come up with money for basic services like police and fire protection and teachers for our underfunded schools.

So what are Republicans talking about? Contraception. And women aren’t invited to the conversation. States like Iowa are busily debating Tea Party bills that would send doctors who perform abortions to prison for life, or, if for some unknown reason they were going to perform an abortion but didn’t, up to twenty-five years for even entertaining the notion.

The country is in trouble and the only thing the Republicans want to talk about is how they can strip away women’s rights. Rick Santorum’s billionaire backer, Foster Friess, had the nerve to wax poetic and longingly about how in his day (that would be back in the Dark Ages) women prevented pregnancy by holding an aspirin between their knees. Trust me, Foster, if men bore children, contraceptives would be free on demand and abortions would be funded by the government.

Republicans have no answers for the problems confronting this country. Indeed, the Republican agenda and the policies implemented under the Bush administration are the reason this country is in the position in which it finds itself. Oh, they’ll holler and yell and say it’s all Bill Clinton’s fault and all Obama’s fault and will never admit that our surplus was squandered on unfunded wars and unnecessary tax giveaways to the wealthy. It’s just more noise from the guilty party. They have no answers and they have no defense, so they attack something completely unrelated in the hope that people won’t notice just how ineffective they’ve been since taking over Congress last year. Not one jobs program. Every program they come up with is the same. Tax cuts for the rich and cuts to programs that benefit everyone else. In the face of having no answers, they decided to pick on women.

Now how stupid is that? Yes, there are the Sarah Palins of the world who think the Republican agenda doesn’t apply to them because they are of the anointed few. But most women get the picture. They see that the Republican agenda is to exert total control over women. Barefoot, broke and pregnant, yessireebob! That’s the way they like their women. And I say YES! Keep it up! Because if they think for a nanosecond they can win the presidency by dumping all over women, they are even more deluded than I thought they were and that’s pretty deluded! I think they’ve forgotten that women vote. In high numbers. Higher numbers than men. Piss them off and they’ll come out in even larger numbers. There’s nothing quite like attempting to roll back the strides women have made to really piss them off. At this rate, Obama won’t even have to campaign. He can sit back and enjoy watching the Republican party tear itself apart. And then, re-elected, he can get down to the business of getting this country back on track.

The GOP party line is puzzling isn't it? They are their own worst enemy.

They are really so out of touch with the heartbeat of America and I hear that Mitt Romney may even lose support in his own state.

The fact is that even after such a long and bruising campaign, the party has still not coalesced around a single candidate.

That means they don't even have a viable candidate that all the sectors of the party can agree on.

How they hope to even make it a horse race?

. . . There are only 37 weeks before the election and all the damage the GOP candidates are inflicting on each other will only be explosive ammunition used by the Democratic Party to win the Presidential election by a landslide!

The Republican establishment seems to not care if they win or not as long as they can keep the status quo and continue to have some power in the handling of the money.
One thing that the Democrats learned a long time ago is that it pays to embrace the disenfranchised groups such as the homosexual community, the socialist and communists, the labor unions and so on where as the Republican establishment wants the libertarian, TEA party, and conservative factions of the party to go away and not try to institute the changes from their set ways of spending.

IMHO the Romney camp represents the Republican establishment and the people behind their campaign seem to be working for the Democrats on the side. The real issue isnt whether or not the runners up in the nomination process will throw their support behind the candidate but whether or not the voters will also throw their votes behind them. Some may just stay home or write in a name. Until the Republican party can admit that we cannot just defeat Obama but make the changes in the direction this nation is headed by cutting government, cutting government spending, and reducing the role of the federal government in our daily lives we will never get out of the economic strangling that is our debt.Gaslon3e prices are rising daily while there is a glut of gasoline and oil. Is this becasue of the US printing more and more money and we are in the throws of the beginning of hyp0er inflation that follows. It is not difficult to look at prices and earning power to see the real inflation around us that is caused by this massive printing if money known as quantitative easing. This not only robs our debt holders of a real return on their investment but in worse circumstances destroys the savings of the American people as well ss their investments.

As to wanting to strip away women's rights, this is a fabrication of the Democrats. This whole matter revolves around the issue of Obmascare and the forcing of a religious establishment to do something that is against their teachings and forcing them to pay for it. This is a clear instance of a violation of the 1sst amendment. Then comes the lackey shills for Obama which is the media and they make this into something that it is not knowing that most people will hear a sound bite and act like they know the whole story. This is insulting or should be as they are making the assumption that the vast majority of the people are dfumbasses and it may be unfortunate that they are right.

It really is a moot point at this time since I will vote for the candidate that has the best chance of beating Obama and then continue to work towed making the changes in our representation to turn this nation around and reduce the federal government and restore the American dream.

Plus, the Catholic Church established its belief system almost 2,000 years ago; so there is nearly 2,000 years of precedence for its doctrine.

OK, I'll bite.

Basic principles. "Free" means free to do something *AND* it means free NOT to do it. Free exercise of religion means that people are free to hold whatever religious beliefs they hold. It means that they are free to act in the ways that are required by their religion, subject of course to the basic limits imposed everywhere. It also means that they are free NOT to do things that are forbidden by their religion, and it particularly means that they may not be compelled by the law to do those forbidden things.

Catholics believe that abortion is absolutely forbidden. (Reference: Catechism of the Catholic Church, Chapter Two, Article V, Part I, sections 2270-2275.) Catholics are not under any circumstances allowed to participate (whether as patient, provider, assistant, or financier) in an abortion and remain in communion with the Church. The mandatory penalty is excommunication: there is no provision for extenuating circumstances.

A law requiring Catholics or Catholic organizations to pay for abortions immediately runs afoul of the First Amendment.

Most contraceptives work after conception has occurred, by preventing implantation of the fetus into the lining of the uterine wall. Because life begins at conception, to Catholics, this is considered equivalent to abortion, and is therefore equally forbidden. (It is worth mentioning that RU-486, the "abortion pill", works AFTER implantation, by inducing miscarriage.)

At that point, a law requiring Catholics and Catholic organizations to pay for contraceptives runs directly afoul of the First Amendment as well.
