What is politics

Amatuer GYN's Avatar
A little boy goes to his dad and asks, "What is politics?"

Dad says, "Well son, let me try to explain it this way: I'm the breadwinner of the family, so let's call me capitalism. Your Mom, she's the administrator of the money, so we'll call her the Government. We're here to take care of your needs, so we'll call you the people. The nanny, we'll consider her the Working Class. And your baby brother, we'll call him the Future. Now, think about that and see if that makes sense,"

So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what dad had said.

Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him. He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper. So the little boy goes to his parents' room and finds his mother sound asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny. He gives up and goes back to bed. The next morning, the little boy says to his father, "Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now."

The father says, "Good son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about."

The little boy replies, "Well, while Capitalism is screwing the Working Class, the Government is sound asleep, the People are being ignored and the Future is in deep poo."

I have no wisdom to share; but, I will tell you what I am thinking. Putting all the rhetoric aside, sometimes I wonder too. I think we all want the same thing; too put food on our tables, good schools for our kids and to have a little security etc.. I'm not that old either.

I think we will all agree that we need some good leadership. I voted for Obama and I say that with some reluctance. He promised change. And while things have change, I don't think it has been for the better. Please don't take this as me slamming Obama. I'm not; I just think we need more positive change.

I think the whole process is broke and antiquated and needs to be changed. I vote; but, I can't see where it makes a difference.

Democrats, Republicans, Progressives who cares, lets just get the job done. Look at the Chinese, they have a 5 year plan, a 10 year plan etc.. From what I can see, we don't even have a plan. We are too busy arguing on a plan. Their government helps their businesses succeed. Albeit, they are stealing the world blind in doing that. Our government has done nothing for me but raised the cost of me doing business almost to the point where I'm out of business. I have to fire two people tomorrow because I'm getting my ass kicked by Chinese manufactures and the guys in Washington and still arguing.

If you look at things in 4 year intervals, one can be happy with our government at times. If you look at things in 30 year intervals, our government has seriously let us down.

I'm just a regular guy. I don't have any answers. But, I can tell you things are not getting better for me and mine.

Well said Amatuer! Let's quit the bickering and solve our country issues. Maybe down the road you may have a future in politics. Thanks for your insight.

I really don't think the process is broken.

Just that people aren't civil to each other.

And ethically challenged.
