apparently, fencing the US/Mexico border is a top issue for the republican candidates.... Bush spent well over a billion dollars and hasnt finished the partial fence ... did anyone ask how much it would cost to build a complete fence? Does anyone care? Does anyone care the illegals are cutting holes in the existing fence faster than we can fix them, scaling the fence with ladders, and basically making the BILLION dollar fence look like a minor obstacle at a theme park.

Here in Texas the uber wealthy ranch owners and the politically connected somehow manage to have their ranches bypassed... A 15$ MILLION DOLLAR RIVERFRONT PARCEL, suddenly becomes a $3 million dollar ranch with 2 miles of beautiful, rusty FENCEFRONT, very well might be the reason for that, IMO.

then of course on top of fence spending Gingrich wants to bring in the ( I think he said) National Guard and line the border .... the other candidates want to create new legislation similar to AZ, fence, and yada yada yada campaign blather blather blather ..

we cant enforce the current laws on the books, so create NEW legislation ?, we cant enforce the current laws because we dont have the $ or manpower, so we spend billions finishing a seemingly moot fence and call in the guard ..

We need to control our border. I'll be honest, I don't know the best way to do it. A fence reminds me too much of East Germany, and there are enough reminders of East Germany in this country as it is.

iMO if we enforce the laws on the books, the border will police itself to a point. Not one candidate is for deporting every illegal in the country, but they are for creating NEW laws inspite of the fact they cant enforce the laws we have ... dumbshits.

Gingrich made a good point about employers using Vericheck ... if employers wont hire illegals the jobs dry up, the jobs dry up, the border traffic goes down condiderably, leaving the war on drugs

given our success on that lil ditty, a fence around the entire country would be next ... to no avail.
