True elegance is being refined in your dress, appearance, the way you speak with others and what you speak about, and finally about how you transition from lady to lover.
I like Bigh's answer. But, I'll add confidence to it.

Great topic!

I think it's about giving respect as well as demanding it.

I think it entails a certain level of kindness, focus and attention to detail. Elegant design is simple and artfully unadorned.
All hail to Mijo!

Basically, just being yourself.

How could we ever be better???

With a solid balance between inner and outter beauty.
Always using the Golden Rule...treat others as you would like to be treated.
Having that inner and outter glow that make others FEEL your positive energy absorb into them before the actual touch...

Kinda like that warm tingle,a slight break of sweat...

(Also what 4karlos and alluringava said were very true)
Some wonderful answers.

I believe in the Western culture that at times elegance is confused with ones attire.

Ralph Lauren designs beautifully understated elegant gowns, but wearing one does not make one elegant. Although choosing one shows good taste.

Elegance I believe is all that has been stated by previous posters, with emphasis on Migo and Bigh's replies.

It is displayed in ones carriage, how they move, be it their gate when they walk, to the gentle manner in which they summon for the wait staff in a restaurant.

Marilyn Monroe was glamourous but not elegant.

Sophia Lauren on the other hand is elegant and glamourous.

True elegance is the ability to make another feel like the most important person in the room.
For me it`s understatement in your attitude, a love and respect for all living beings, carefulness towards others and when it comes to clothes: the classy ones, that never go out of fashion, simple, yet erotic or business like. Haircut classy haircut, make up elegant, I like the "little black dress" and business suits, as example. For me Coco Chanel, Audrey Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich are perfect examples of classy that is never out of fashion
Being yourself.....

and treating everyone equally
