1 the oil belongs to Canada
2. after the oil is refined it still belongs to Canada
3. we import the majority of our oil from Canada
4. the refined oil goes on the global market to be sold to whoever at golbal prices
5. the only certainty is the oil companies will profit
6. our reserves are full
7. our refineries are running skeleton crews and refining little or nothing
8. the pipeline will have little effect on prices at the pump

now .. granted the Republicans want the pipeline regardless

the pipeline will take 24 months to cpmplete
Obama signed off on the lower portion in March
by the time its finished its a very good possibility the rest of the project will start moving forward, and more than likely before the first of the year.

the pipeline will create jobs, how many is yet to be determined, but jobs nonetheless ... leading up to and during a presidential election when the main focus on candidates is JOBS.

the republican party and their faithful followers get their moot pipeline

the democratic party gets a few more months of favorable unemployment reports and possibly lowers unemployment up to, and right before an election.

imagine that

8. the pipeline will have little effect on prices at the pump $3.97 per gallon is still cheaper than $4 per gallon: ask an airline company, a fleet operator, or a truck driver. If a truck dollar saved just $3 per day on the purchase of 100 gallons of fuel, well s/he might save an extra $1,000 per year. That number grows exponentially when one factors in the number of drivers and those who purchase more than 100 gallons of fuel per day. BTW, that savings is also passed onto consumers at the market.

Yes! It will create jobs in a down economy, but you condescendingly keep dismissing them as irrelevant. Some of those jobs are very high paying, blue-collar jobs.

The full pipeline would increase the capacity of oil flowing from Canada's oil sands into the broader global market by up to 700,000 barrels a day, according to advocates. But adding even the 700,000 barrels to more than 90 million barrels worldwide will have limited long-term impact on prices, especially amid worries about what might happen with Iran production.

"In the current market, people are so worried about the loss of 3.5 million barrels from Iran, that 500,000 to 700,000 barrels isn't enough to calm the markets,"
