Strange happenings regarding unwanted content

I have popups disabled but for some reason I keep having tabs on the browser opened and "cam" commercials (for lack of a better word) seem to be launching themselves automatically without my having clicked on them.

It haven't been able to duplicate exactly when or why but 4 times today and last night it occurrs... I BELIEVE it happens when I inadvertanty roll over one of the ads that are rotating.

annoying because the content launching contains audio....

Some additional info.... I was at Perfect 10 this afternoon and logged into the VIP computer briefly and saw the same thing happen.

or almost the same thing. Instead of a tab in the browser it opened a 2nd browser window with the cam stuff playing.

FWIW, I haven't encountered this problem. Perhaps you acquired a virus that was running around here a couple of weeks ago? I don't know, but y'alls problems seems to be a bit isolated, so it may be local on your equipment.. Good luck..

No issues at all. Could it be your internet provider? I think nuglet and I have Grande and we both have had no problems

With the intent on providing additional information...

I am on Time/Warner for the home machines and Verizon for the phone and the tablet and have not encountered those issues.

I don't think the service providers could be the issue and although browser settings and a lack of popup blockers could be I run pretty secure and safe systems at home and in the office.

I told a buddy that is a geek about it and he said there is probably some code embedded in content that is rotating and that there may be a lot of content without the offending code and if I just happen to roll over the ad at the time the infected content is being displayed that the code launches the ads.

I've narrowed it down to one of the ads down the left side of the browser screen. The cntent it launches is always for cam shows. I just all of a sudden hear a sexy voice talking to me and realize a new tab was opened.
Admin is looking into what is happenning and I hope to have some answers soon..

One trick that can be helpful for rogue websites that play sounds is to go into the sound mixer on Windows and turn the volume down on your browser. This way you can silence the browser without silencing everything.

Of course, if you want to listen to videos or sounds on some web pages, you'll have to turn the sound back up or use a different browser.

Has occurred 4 times in last 20 minutes

Pops up and says

"Welcome. Who are you interested in meeting."

If the site is just selling ad content to expose us to just say so and I'll quit asking.
