think security???

This is an online directory website (just one of many) that has lists of personal information such as your home address, phone number, income, taxes, credit rating etc... Some of it is obviously wrong, but it is quite interesting. The website is:

Sometimes its just fun to surf the Internet instead of looking for stuff to stir into recipes trying to create disasters.

I still find it amazing that these sites are allowed to retrieve your information and make it available, but apparently, it's not illegal. Thanks for the info, and btw, the site says my house is est at 1M+

You'd think it would be illegal for them to post people's personal info without verifying any of it. I'm sure there are legal loopholes that allow them to get away with it. It is pretty funny how inaccurate their info about me is though. Most of it isn't even close to the truth...lol

You enter name and or e-mail on spokeo, they see it is legit.
You enter URL (e.g. from a social network profile) they even see it is more legit and now they even have a correlation between profile and e-mail address.

so. don't do it.

unfortunately, the aggregation they do is legal. and as they say in the disclaimer, they have no control over the clerical data entry errors that make up 30% of the info.

the above 'correlated' info sells for quite a nice price btw. about 5 USD versus raw junk data from google for 50 cents a profile.

Yup Buonas. They have the stray people hitting the site do the basic input for them and than have their neural nets piece it together.

You could always contribute to the chaos by putting in garbage
