The Best Tortilla Soup in San ‘tone…

Mods if the should go in ISO move it.
Ladies & Gents, I have gotten a hankering for some REAL good Tortilla Soup, I had some a few days ago at a well know restaurant here & it was like Chicken Soup with 3 Tortilla Chips floating on the top… the floor is open to suggestions

Remember the very first time I tried Tortilla Soup.
Never ever heard of it before in my life.
But Man! Was it GOOD!
That was years ago (late 1980s) at the Copper Kitchen in the Ursline Academy. People know it as the Southwest Craft Center.
Was many years later that I started to see it appear on menus.
My first try was the best. Seeing that they make all their food from scratch.
I like Alamo Cafe's Tortilla Soup

Not Hobby related. So this is a Sandbox topic.

Moved to the proper forum.

The only tortilla soup I have had was at Jim's. I found it to be pretty good.
I've had several good bowls at a variety of places. Unfortunately, I've had some mediocre bowls at the same places--very inconsistent.

But Panchito's on McCullough might be having a good day when you visit. It's worth a try. Even their bad was decent.

The hands down, Best Tortilla Soup in the history of ever in San Antonio...

Brianna's (Cafe?) really cute little Mexican food restaurant on the South Side of town, on Thompson St. 1 block west of General McMullen.

Tortilla soup is their specialty and they make it fresh every morning. Lots of chicken, tortilla strips, topped with cheese before being sent out to be served. The large bowl is freaking H U G E, so be forewarned.

Also, if you're not one of the earlier diners, chances are they'll be sold out by around 1-1:15pm.
Anyway, it's a really cute place and the other food is pretty alright too. I haven't been there in a while but now, thanks to this thread, I need to make a trip down that way.

Enjoy,
SKF

I have to agree with Likinikki about Alamo Cafe. While their food is not what I would call "authentic mexican cuisine" their Tortilla Soup is pretty damn good.

Guajillo's on 410 n Blanco has great tortilla soup. It's not chicken soup there's no chicken what so ever in it. It's has great flavor and very simple just the soup tortilla chips and Mexican cheese that's it.
