Cinco de Mayo

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Cinco de Mayo had its origin with celebrating a Mexican military victory over the invading French army on May 5, 1862, but today it is a much more important holiday in the U.S. than in Mexico. A new book relates its beginning among Latinos in the West during the Civil War.

I'm late to this but...

Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexico winning a war over France. It does not move me very much, if any. Wonder if they celebrate July 4th in
The only people celebrating 5 de Mayo are gringos -- of whatever color. Unless you are from Puebla -- and probably living IN Puebla on that day -- you aren't likely to even hear it mentioned.

So you and your white folk pals should continue to drink up, it's YOUR celebration -- brown(ish) skin people could care less (except for the morons who've never even been to Mexico, yet rant on and on about how they're Mexican, love their culture, and are taking back the SW of the US -- all the while, unable to speak Spanish, couldn't name half of the Mexican states or capitals, and think boligrafo is the name of a tennis/bowling star)....
