Why Have We Not Risen Above Violence?

HoustonMilfDebbie's Avatar
It would seem that the human race would have risen above the violence we see every day in this world. I was watching CNN today and was appalled to see the massacre of women and children in Syria. Are we still animals? I just can't believe that with the intelligence we possess, we are still unable to solve conflicts peacefully. We really do need a woman president!
Theres 10's of thousands of woman in politics I would take over Oblablabla for president........I prefer Americans to run our Country.......Fuckem

Women are great at negotiating. They have a lot to offer in politics and government, but we are still living in a "man's world", so it seems.

Women are still paid less for doing the same work as a man, but they are allowed to vote now...LOL...

Man's core nature is the same today as it was at the beginning of recorded human history. The only thing that's changed is our ability to kill each other more efficiently.

The twentieth century was the bloodiest century ever. We've been very lucky to go sixty six years without a world war.

I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones. Albert Einstein

Sorry, I don't know Olivia and I don't know you! I think Olivia makes some interesting and intelligent posts, though.

That is really a very profound question that I have pondered deeply myself.

Great thinkers have wrestled with that one since the dawn of time, but no one has found any reasonable answer.

Maybe that is because war derives from the lower nature of man and is totally unreasonable.

After the horrible carnage of World War I, it was thought to be the "War to End all Wars", but guess what?

. . . It was followed by an even more horrific World War II.

I remember reading Sun Tzu's advice regarding war in his classic treatise on the subject which as brilliant as he was, still does not give one much hope.

. . . "During peace, prepare for war. During war, prepare for peace"

In proportion to the number of people on the planet, I doubt the 20th century is bloodier than any other.

The reason the members of the human race keep killing each other is human nature, which is the one constant throughout history.

It is almost laughable suggesting diplomacy with a thug like Assad in Syria. A bullet in his head is the only thing that will initiate any permanent change.

To the OP, you seem to have a very niave attitude toward the evils in the world. Always remember, those who melt their swords down to make plowshares will soon be plowing for someone who did not.

Turn your back on the Middle East, and you are going to get shot in the fucking back. It’s that simple.
