A friend of mine is reading it, and according to her, the book is written with piss-poor syntax, complemented by clumsy, sometimes confused, story telling. However, she compares it to a type of book similar to Twilight, only for adults. (Definitely NOT for children, according to her! LOL) Basically, if you go into reading it with low expectations and don't look for a literary masterpiece, it will make for an entertaining read.

I read the first chapter since someone had the book and I was curious. It is the typical chick fantasy type story whereby a girl-next-door type is swept up by a perfect handsome, confident, powerful rich dude. A Cinderella story. But with some sex. But not much.
The catch is the kind of sex, its turning women on a whole new world of sexual adventures. It is awful but women are eating it up and alot more curious about things they wouldnt have considered before. I love it.
One thing I learned from taking a technical writing course is...the main objective is to write to the level of your audience. E L James is writing this trilogy to the thousands of sex starved audience!

We're fortunate to be able to share an unique hobby...where we can explore all kinds of erotic activities and be well received...within the hobby community.

Most people can only fantasize their erotic desires...through the pages of such writings. Whether it's a literary masterpiece or not...apparently, the first book is satisfying a particular audience...as it's a best seller! Much like Danielle Steele novels...which I love!!
.....agree with Nikki because depending on the depth and length of time you have been in this thing we call the hobby ==> the less we learn about things through literature

and I'm a little pissed because I almost had it read and Barnes & Noble sold the copy I was reading!!.....

I got about 300 pages into the book and yea maybe it gets your mind thinking but I also started to realize that Ana is just basically going with the flow because she wants Christian so bad. She has no idea what she is doing and has nothing to base it off of. I would have kept reading (if they hadn't sold the one I was reading) because there has to be more to this series than just sex. I just don't think Ana is an example of what I would like for a woman to be, so she bothers me. I prefer women to have their own minds and for men to find that attractive.

How dare they do that to you!! Haha, so that's where you were the other night! (lol)

And therein lies the *key* to the book and why many women & men enjoy it.
Because albeit while many women have been inhibited most of their lives. Many are now finding a way to unleash some of that pent up passion/sexual being within. Thus many spouses are *grateful*.
And IF it takes a damn book to bring it out in them. So be it.

Men & women are different. Some men may find the book to be nothing more than a chick flick. But if it works for women, then don't complain about it.

I personally haven't read it. No need to. I'm well versed as an uninhibited sexual being.

The plot is totally unbelievable. A 21 year old woman college graduate who is a virgin (yeah take all that in and tell me that's for real) meets a 27 year old hunk with a multi-billion dollar business that he created on his own without help from daddy (yeah, uh huh) by accident. Are you with me so far??? LOL

Now, I have to say the the sex scenes in the first book are fairly well written with lots of description - which is nice at first - by book two - you are like - come on - get on with it!!! LMAO It is really more a Cinderella romance with some sex thrown in. Don't read it expecting lots of Kinky BDSM sex - cause it's not there. BDSM and Kink are alluded to - but not really explored in depth. It's more about love and compromise. Learning to live with someone you love. If you want fairy tale romance - read it. If you want hot steamy sexy Kink or BDSM - I think you'll be disappointed.

This thread makes me think of this episode of Family Guy, but for housewives.

I really don't like to read or watch anything "X-Rated" that has nudity or deep sexual or foul language. I'm just really shy and it makes me uncomfortable lol that's why I don't like reviews. I don't like people reading about what I do and stuff hehe a friend of mine that is reading it told me it wasn't "safe for me" and that it is as they say, mommy porn lol
