Using the search engine to find 3 letter words or less

Hi Staff,

I posted on the National Technical Question Forum but didn't get the answer that helped. I'm trying to figure out how to use the eccie search engine to find words that have three letter or less. For example, if I were to search for the word 'sex' or a name like 'Liz' I don't get any results of my search. So far I've used asterisks, quotations, commas, and a couple of others. Nothing turns up a search. How do I get a search result.

Thanks.

It's a limitation of the vBulletin board messaging software; the search engine and MySQL database only searches on words with 4-characters or more. It will also skip some common words, even if they are longer than 4 letters. There are workarounds that the board administrators can implement, but by default, out of the box, vBulletin won't do it.

Hope that helps... it's not because of anything you're not doing correctly.

Workaround for YOU would be to use Google, and the "site:" keyword to narrow results to eccie.net. Doing this, you could, for example, find all public posts since the last time the site was crawled for "sex" and "dfw" and "cim" and "review" in the same thread. Note that you'll need to disable SafeSearch on Google to see all results.

Here's how to do it: demo
Thank you so much Big Bud. You've answered my question. I have been using google using eccie.net net but just in a different method, plus I didn't know about the SafeSearch blocking results. My results were very limited. I'll try your suggestion.

Thanks again.
