My phone quit working today, i couldnt make outgoing calls. I bought a new one thinking i could transfer my number but since i have no clue what my account number is i had to get a new number. I really should stop buying cheap prepaid phones.
If I remember right you can get a Google number and then with new phones you would only have to change your number on the Google account so the Google number then rang through to the new phone number, yet to everyone else it would always be the Google number you showed. I think it works that way, though I haven't looked at that for awhile. Anyone know if that is correct?
That is correct. If you have a Google Voice number, it can route your calls to any mobile phone number you choose. So if you get a new phone number, you can keep giving out the GV number and no one will know.
Some people are wary of Google Voice. Who knows what Google is doing with that information? It's not a concern of mine, but a provider may havea different threshhold for security and privacy.
Thanks for the advice. My phone is working just fine today so i will be using the same number. Ive been thinking about google voice.
