The Pernicious Assumption of Superiority

Hello Lovelies and Gentlemen!

Here is an article that I find thought triggering. It`s about the use of shame to make others feel inferior.
Read on:

"Due to the competitive ‘marketplace of ideas’ that is at the core of individualist culture, we have instead developed a subtle, yet pernicious form of shame: the u...se of shame to convince another person of the superiority of your perspective. This occurs in the areas of belief, parenting, politics, relationship dynamics, tastes in media, and even in the realm of emotions. The debates on these topics very quickly devolve from a discussion of the merits of different viewpoints into a slinging of shame. "

Hi nina,

After reading the article, I would find no shame in breastfeeding from you in public or private!

Not so much from Ed!

What a set of weak ideas promoted by people with limited capacity!

Do you feel shamed yet?
