Or is the hobby hitting a downslope right now? I was thinking, school is out and lots of people are trying to get their children into a positive activity. Boy, I remember those days! But lately, I have had some appointments that I had spent a lot of time conversing with, mostly out of towners, and then when they arrive, I don't hear from them. Has anyone else run into this?

Summer is a little funny. A lot of hobbyists with kids and families end up going on vacations, taking them and their money out of town, so that tends to lower the demand a little bit and there are always the traveling ladies, especially the college girls out for summer, who hit the circuit adding to the supply. And it always seems that they all arrive at the same time making it even worse.

I can't speak for the out of towners, but I'd assume they either get too busy doing whatever their doing, plans change or someone else caught their eye.

I think you may be right. I seem to have better luck with international visitors than the home grown ones! Too bad, the locals don't know what they are missing! : )

I plan on having fun as soon as I can get back, it seems to be a coordination thing, the time (x2), money, location and hope that someone else doesn't bump your plans. sometimes its a providers market, other times its not.

It is extremely rare for ME to cancel an established appointment. I am on time and ready to rock your world!

this is meant as a rule, often I make plans for a week+ for a visit, yet work will limit wiggle-room for unexpected events. the location of a provider offering the services I desire at that time is a factor as well. I now review the route that I will have to travel, and as to what is available (provider and her published services) and see if all the pieces fit.

New Orleans is a funny market...there are alot of providers traveling here who say they do good but a few others say they cant get bookings...I think it is just "luck of the draw" most times....I have done well here and think i have established a good rep here,but i now from past experience in the south that the summer gets "unstable"....
But ya never know...if you have "the right" stuff someone wants..you will do enough biz to keep ya happy
