The "Fox Motel" Landmark

I was cruising around my old stomping ground just north of downtown and couldn't believe the facelift that Broadway Street is getting as developers try to revitalize (and cash in) on that "once" busy metropolis area.

Among all those modern condo and office building projects, there she stands, like the Fortress that she is, the old "Fox Motel." I was happy to see she even had a few paying customers as I drove by.

You have to believe her days are numbered, if for nothing else, she will become victim to the artificial increase in her property value which will be unaffordable to the owner. She also just doesn't fit in and I'm sure, once the residents start moving in, will lobby to burn it down.

Just curious how many hobbyists here are "Fox Motel" veterans/past patrons?

Back in the 70s, I was a VIP as much as I used it.

$10 would get me 1 hour and $25 would get me three, though I rarely used that benefit. It was a sweat-box during the summer much like the Turkish saunas and we (my lady friends and I) came out of there a few pounds lighter, worn out, but happy campers.

Man-o-Man, such wonderful memories and another sign that progress is getting in the way!

P.S. Good to see the old "Pig Stand" still in operation!
Used to go there back in the day also. Probably still the same mattresses and sheets as I used back then.

I love this side of town it really is developing into a nicer place. I was gonna move there to those new condos but opted to southtown ( same developers ) and they are really doing a facelift over here too.

So anyways back on topic .. im glad to see u veterans are still freaky freaks!!
Ive never heard of the FOX motel .. is it the one thats at the winding road ??
The Elmira was a legend in its own right! I used it when I wanted a cheap room where the A/C worked.....and it was hidden out of sight, to boot. Good call, PromDate!
