Just FOund Out There's A Lien On Car I Bought

What can I do If anything? Can someone help?

Did you buy it from an individual, and they just signed over the title?

I never got the tittle now I know why. I got a bill of sell thought it was just a lost tittle. Was going to do a bond but they can't help me.

Wrong. 1,000 due to the lien. Sorry that happened to you, but, unfortunately, you have a lot of company out there .... you got had and not in a nice way. You get the lien off by paying off the lien .... but ....

remember what just happened to you. Don't go handing some $@$^% money in exchange for a piece of paper that says the lien is released. You will just be wasting more money. Get a copy of the existing title or a current vehicle history from Texas Motor Vehicles and contact the entity or person shown on the history ... treat it like a new hobbyist as far as background check is concerned to make sure the person who contacts you is the one and the same.

After all of this is over you will discover you did not save money. Sorry.

There is always the option of getting the money back from the seller.

He probably didn't have a title. Because, the party with the lien is holding the title.

The title had one of those loans attached to it. The she-wolf (which is an insult to wolves everywhere) wouldn't tell me the place where the loan was so that I could make good there.

I REALLY liked this car.

I spoke to a couple of attorneys. There is supposedly a law in Texas that says if you're sold a car with a lien on the title that you can go to small claims court and sue.

But someone told me later in MY quest to get that damn title (which I never did), that there is some law (and good luck finding it) that protects people like us who are conned and we can get a clear title.

Basically, you're screwed. I kept a friendly front, still do, with the person who sold me my vehicle. And this was the ONLY way that I was able to get a new license sticker. She had to go with me. It was very difficult for me to remain civil.

You can trace who the lien holder is and then speak to them. My issue with THAT was the company had changed names. I know people who were able to check things out like title liens (and you can do this yourself) but this company was probably pretty shady. I looked and called similar places in the area but never could find the lien holder and even after begging, the seller wouldn't give it to me.

It's a sad place to be in, I know. I payed for the vehicle and when the transmission blew, I would have fixed it if I had a clear title. But I also worried that it would be picked up at any time because there was money due on it.

So in the end, I sold it for scrap metal.

Good luck. I don't have any really good advice. Except to REALLY check the title next time BEFORE you purchase the vehicle. It's tough to be trusting and to have something like that happen.

And to hell to the people who do crap like this to others. It's disgraceful.

IMO he/she knew it, too, that's why he/she didn't have a title to give to you .

There is a loophole to get around that. Private message me....

A few thoughts, drive it until the tags run out. Park it where it will be issued parking tickets, which will go to the registered owner. When the tags run out, park it where it will be towed. This will cause a lot of headaces to the registerd owner.

You could file a small claims suit and get a judment against him. ( he probably will not show up for the court date) it is hard to collect on a judment.

Check with the police, see if the sale falls under fraud, maybe you can file a criminal complaint.

Maybe you can work out something with the title lean holder if the cost and what you paid is much less then the real value of the car.

If you can drive it for a year, your getting your $1000.00 back as rental costs.
