P411 investigation.

Received an email this evening, as, I'm sure many of you have, about a p411 investigation where over 800 ip addresses, info, and members have been turned over to the attorney's office in northern NY, and was curious if anyone knew anything regarding this? And it there was anything to worry about?

I got the same e-mail too....It could be a scam...Check in PR...

Unless there is a guaranteed way to determine that it is from an official source, i'd put it way behind the Nigerian scams and other such internet hoaxs.

I'm gonna guess it's a scam. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a certain pissed off teddy bear formerly of this site...

If your e-mail for your P411 is your universal hobby account, (ie you list it on all hobby sites) it's not hard to get such info. As for the address, it's easy to spoof (fake) anyone's address. If you're able/allowed to, try changing your P411 e-mail to something unique, and see if the messages continue. Also, I'n sure Gina will chime in soon enough with clarification.

Just checked my email. Did not get one...sounds like a scam.
As far as I know, official notice is via mail not email. No worries.
Besides, they won't notify anyone while they investigate.

RP is randomly sending those out , not every p411 member is getting the email . And non p411 members are . Doing it in Houston also . Don't think for a second LE doesn't know about our sites . They're glad it's not on the streets .

Spoofed email coming from Gina@P-P411.com

Last night an email went out to a number of providers and clients listed on P411, that has been spoofed to look like it was sent by me.I did NOT send that email, and my email address is not anything@p-411.com.

Only some of the email addresses in the list are actually P411 members, so that leads me to believe that those addresses were collected via fake ads post in various places, or other means. Our databases have not been touched.Obviously, someone is very intent on causing P411 problems right now, and I have made some enemies out of people who have been removed from the site.
