Lately reading the news reports on stings, and arrests of adults doing adult things one could be forgiven for thinking that sex is a crime.

And the descriptions of the ways in which it occurs almost as bad, falling to depths of disgust and such that those who do it appear worse than animals...etc

Well I have one very big problem with this mentality.

Sex is NORMAL, it is a normal adult act between women and men, there is NOTHING dirty or immoral about it.

And if it were not for sex there would be no people to make such stupid ignorant and infantile statements.

If sex disgusts you, IT IS YOU WHO ARE ABNORMAL..

When one looks back at recorded History accumulated over centuries it reveals a LOT about human nature in general.

There have always been two camps:
Those that celebrate sex as the AWESOME gift it is.
Those that focus on the bad aspects of it: idiot births, abandonement, disease

Then there is the inherent difference between men and women that constantly clash:
Most men are sexually liberal and want to have sex with many partners.
Most women are sexual exclusive and want one committed partner.

These forces will struggle throughout eternity. Sometimes societies will swing more to the liberal side (like Budapest, Vegas), sometimes they will swing to the conservative (US "Bible belt", China)

All we can do (as liberals) is push a little bit in that direction.

Personally I think the ancient Greeks and Romans had it right. Orgies can exist in the same society that values human rights, philosophy, and pretty much defined the basis of modern law and government. They achieved great things for humanity AND had balance in dealing with Sexuality.
