Anyone use Google Voice...

I have it on my iPhone, have been using it for about a year and up til know never heard anything weird about it til now.

I had been texting with a Provider on Monday throughout the day and nothing odd, but on Tuesday, we were texting and I decided to log on to my gmail account and text through there also. When we met in the evening she let me know that during the day she was getting texts from me but from about 5 different phone numbers...

Not sure what happened but I guess from now on I'm only texting from GV on my phone and not from the online version.

Just wanted to put it out there for others to know.

I have used it for 2 years, and it does occasionally seem to happen.

I can deal with it, as it is a great free program that is easily stopped and started for discretions sake.

I downloaded it last night. But got techfried and frustrated with it. Is it better to set up via laptop? I'm too lazy to power it on lol.

Yep it does that.

You have to set up via laptop ! You cannot do the process of calling and them capturing your number without that step . Works good after that , but make sure you set up the caller ID while on desk top , also the text forwarding if you want it to put text on cell phone .

Yes even the "best" techno shit messes up. I use it on 3 different accounts and my business. Its been more good then bad.

Google voice rocks!!

But whenever a hobbyist texts me there number is a random number from the internet. They would need to call me to know there actual number....

I actually have a hobby phone (i totally need to turn off my services) but i use gv instead.
Once i called my MOM from my gv (ooopsie!) and THANK GOODNESS a totally different number came up!!!
(I just told her it was an app that disguises your number )

There was an issue with Google Voice and text messages

A tweet from the official Google Voice Twitter account has confirmed the issue and says that messaging should now be functioning properly.

Google Voice experienced an issue displaying the incorrect caller ID for outbound SMS. The issue should now be resolved.

I love GV too, but sometimes I don't see texts immediately, so when I'm trying to connect with someone I'll forward the text messages to my real phone, and get the texts on the Messages app.

I've used GV for a year and noticed the incoming calls are often routed through different numbers. Even when being called by the same person. I just assumed it was because the service uses a score of numbers and rotates to what is available. I've never had an issue when texting or calling from my app.

That post was frightening sofa!!!
I kept rereading it lol....but ive come to this conclusion. Which may be way wrong.
But i think she was using her personal number, (even putting it in the post) and when people googled her "personal" number....it pulled up this site. As atx suggested, she should mask the number. Idk.

But i think her case 'may' not be related to gv, but the fact that she googled her number and it came back to eccie. My .02

I'll just add another note, none of the phone numbers that she was getting texts from were my personal number and I do believe they were from various area codes, so I do not believe my personal number was revealed in the texting before we met.

I have it but honestly it works better when it's on wifi
