Damn, the sad thing is some of clients might buy those and use them as sex toys.

Let's hope sexual assault becomes a thing of the past and nothing like this is ever needed again. My heart goes out to the people suffering in war torn nations where rape is used as a weapon. We're incredibly blessed to live somewhere that offers us the legal protections and (relatively) safe homes we enjoy here.

This is a grossly misguided attempt at deterrence.

1) I question the effectiveness of this device. If the guy can't pull out of this device, what prevents the device from coming out of the woman? Once out of the woman, the rapist should be able to just cut it off. If it cannot be pulled out of the woman, then how does she get it out?

2) if it hurts that much to try to pull it out, I would imagine that it would cause just as much discomfort to the woman.

3) The article mentioned this one. If the guy is stuck in her, what's to prevent him from doing more/other violence, including murder, to try to get away? It might be a big jump here to go from sexual assault to murder here, but in parts of Africa, I don't think either merits much fear for criminals.

4) Unless the woman is prepared and thinks a rape will be likely, it is ineffective.

This device seems to want to lock a victim of sexual assault into a potentially more dangerous situation while being utterly ineffective if she doesn't feel like she will be in an unsafe environment.
Ironically, I researched this in depth during high school for a project...

1. The guy can't pull off the device once stuck on. Think of the tire stoppers that lie down on one side so you can go out but not in. It's like a female condom. Typically not without medical help. The same applicator that you place it in with you place back up to allow it to come out.

2. It doesn't hurt to pull it out, only off, after the male tried to rape someone. Once again, think female condom.

3. Not stuck IN her. The thing is stuck on him, making him angry. There's not. It's like pepper spray, only meant to be surprising enough to get away and make them regret their decision.

Keep in mind, in many areas of Africa rape is commonplace, barely even considered criminal. It's the main reason AIDS is so rampant.

4. There are many areas women go to that they know are dangerous (maybe think East Austin here). They could be used at those times. It's like locking your car doors when you go through a bad part of town.

I think this device and method to prevent rape obviously has flaws. However, I'm not sure I can think of a better option... Should women not fight back if raped (I mean that as a serious question)? Is it better to lay there and "take it" rather than fight?

Considering what reincarnated said orginally though, if you knew 1 out of 10 providers would have this in and you'd have to get it removed at a hospital showing you'd seen an escort. Would you continue to visit them? Granted, I know many of your little heads are saying yes right now, but at work ask yourself and maybe you'll say no.

An improvement is not a solution, only better than the status quo...

Rand, it slips right out of the woman. So the man isn't stuck TO her. Think of it as a chinese finger trap with teeth...for your penis. Before I get to the depressing stuff, go check out a phenomenon called "vagina dentata." It basically means "toothed vagina" and is an old myth.

The flaws of this item really do seem great to me. But options are slim. Rape is absolutely endemic in parts of Africa. It's heartbreaking if you've ever listened to some of the stories...

If the lady can slip the thing in and out easily by hand, what is to stop the rapist from doing the same before inserting his manhood? Seems like a chastity belt would be more effective, but then it is more cumbersome.
LOL someone spiked their pussy, how funny.
You remove it with a tampon applicator like thing.

Facts: Someone is raped approximately every 2 minutes in the US. 17.6 % of women in the United States have survived a completed or attempted rape and between 1 in 4 and 1 in 5 college women experience completed or attempted rape during their college years.

I'd like to see one of those frat guys in college be surprised by one of those things. Maybe if they're ever available on the market I'll wear one to the next frat party!

My analysis based on other facts: In my opinion, for all the flaws this product has, it allows women (most who are wearing this will probably already be victims of previous sexual assaults) to feel that they have power again over their bodies. I think one of the biggest problems for women who have been sexually assaulted is the completely and utter feeling of powerlessness towards everyone. This would be something that would allow them to feel slightly in control, typically lessening the chance it will happen again anyways.

You can see the "victim" in a lot of people. Rapists target those women. It makes women who have been sexually assaulted at a much higher risk for it to happen again to them. Allowing them to feel liberated, I think, would minimize their numbers back to normal.
Seems like a great response and just desserts to a rapist, though I agree the risk of enraging an attacker seems perhaps too high.

Some significant opportunity for abuse as well though. Talk about using sex as a weapon.

Maybe a version without teeth that is harder to remove against her will might provide protection without the above 2 issues.

I think the rapist would probably kill the gal unfortunately since rape is rarely sexually motivated. I would like to be a fly on the wall though to see the rapist expression when he cant get it off! lol

He swears it's his finger. But I'm looking the other way and from the way it feels plus he's all-smiles afterwards, I have my doubts.
