Fellow Dallas hobby enthusiasts,

Heading to Dallas for the cotton bowl next Friday. Is there any place in Dallas where I can find Chicago food favorites (pizza, gyros, Italian beef, Vienna hot dogs, etc.)??

Thanks

Old World Sausage Co. at the Farmers Market-Shed #2, the owner Al is from Chicago he has Ital beef and Vienna dogs and a killer rueben sandwich. Davids food mart on Fiztugh has Italian beef shipped in from Chicago, never had it myself but hear its the real deal. Strato's on NW hwy has really good Gyros along with other stuff on their menu its a really good bar/rest. Chicago style pizza?? forget it!!! Ya won't find it here. No GOOD deep dish or stuffed. Some good thin crust tho-Campisi's, Bryant St Pub, Piggie pies, I like the pizza from Buca de Beppo-its a chain from Minn I think. Anyway hope this helps a bit.

One correction. It's Jimmy's on Fitzhugh, not David's, and the Italian Beef and Sausage is great... I'm from Chicago, and there is no good Chicago pizza to be found in Dallas. Old World Sausage Co is good too, but has quirky hours. Look it up before heading over.

Good pizza is argued about in Chicago too, so I'll just say that my favorites are not here in DFW. Just had a Lou Malnati's up in Chicago during the Holidays, and there's nothing I like better! A layer of Sausage over the entire pizza, and the tomato sauce on the top... Yum!
