From this thread it seems that Ella's retirement didn't mean the end. I read that Santa is in trouble with the IRS. There were 2 new Elves that were supposed to be providing right now, but never saw any ads for one of them. The last ad for the other was that she was supposed to be returning last week, but never saw any ads last week.

Would love to see Lexi return.

I'd wait awhile before pronouncing the organization dead. It's not uncommon for them to be away from BR for several weeks at a time, whether touring elsewhere, taking a break, or maybe Santa just needing to deal with other business. No big deal. I don't know if Ella's retiring or just taking a break. She did work for quite a while as the only Elf in town. I wouldn't be surprised that she might have gotten burned out.

After over 400 plus +++ reviews, As Trekker say, she probably gotten burn out. Her last couple reviews been lacking. She needs a time out to recoup and recharge.
