This afternoon, I left a couple of negative comments on some really sketchy reviews.

I.E.-

I have several concerns:

1) If I was being a "dick", a note from a Mod will suffice. I can control myself without any more samples of being spanked by Mods with control issues, so lighten up, Gentlemen.

2) I really would like to know if guys are getting credit for nothing. I'm not gonna B!tch about anymore than I have already, It's just a curiosity.

3) I tried looking for discussion about reviews and have of course seen offers of advice in the past, but maybe someone knows?

What a great site! If you use this right, hours of B.S can be avoided.

The guy just joined a few days ago. Why not point him to one of the "how to" threads on writing a review, rather than beat him up? If someone new shows up to your place of employment and screws up, do you immediately criticize them or do you think about providing them some training?

thats why i dont do reviews unless provider asks, most of time it is a no. have only had 1 provider make it required for the rate.

I call bullshit on this, at least in the case you posted. The guy was new. In fact, he was looking for help before he posted his first review, but no one responded. His first effort was met with derision on your part. Give the guy a break.

Now if the guy doesn't improve after 2-3 reviews, then fire away.

Btw, I went back and read your first review here, and it was no work of art. Neither was mine, way back in the newsgroup days. We all have to start somewhere.

You can call "B.S." on anything you want. Everyone's opinion is valid in cyber space.

By the way, how do you context "derision"? That's another "opinion", my opinion being that statement is shallow and lacking in any substance. His review was weak, he didn't do his "homework" here on site and we have no way to know if he can write anywhere else.

Here's the real kicker: Most of the hiring and firing I've done in the real world has based on assessment of skills that need years of development by sincere, authentic intent. This is a case of not being able to generate a paragraph, never mind the informative or entertaining quailities one might expect or at least hope to read. It's a skill that should have been acquired before the finish of high school.

We have one thing to unite us. You said it:

Before we got anymore "riled up" over this, The newbie and I are fine. I may have a case of dickishness on occassion, but I admited such to him and said that had I taken the time to do a little research, I would not have pooped on his first review.

I can tell from the general lack of response, that mostly nobody gives a rat's bum about what passes for a review. Would that I gave more of a big ol' dayum on a regular basis, There's several folks with 3 or more reviews that are total frontal lobotomy snot and drooler work of a most heinous nature that richly deserve some redirection and consultation.

It's been fun, but...back to making sure I get blown this week...that's the reason I'm here!
