this is a huge topic for us local music aficionados. Let's break it down to daytime events and night time events for simplicity. what daytime parties are u going to? what nighttime events must u see no matter what? do u have an overall plan of attack? do u have wrist bands?.are u doing the interactive festival too? tell us some of your best sxsw memories.

If you volunteer at sxsw and do 60 to 80 hours before the start. Setting up for sxsw. You get wristbands with the Platinum Badge... So you will have access to all for free..

I rarely have the time to attend anything anymore. I used to average about 15-20 hours attending SX entertainment, back in the day.
We start today, (Im in the industry) and have events starting tomorrow.

I usually hit up all the side festivals like Texas Rockfest and red gorilla fest since a lot of friends play those shows. Only a couple of actual sxsw proper shows I actually want to see like clutch on Friday and probably Houston band the tontons. Definitely would like suggestions for day parties though.
I wish they bring in more Latin Pop/Rock. I remember going to Fat Tuesday, near corner Red River and 6 St. They had Molotov, Panda, Zoe, and others. I cant attend this year.

Played a few of the paid and unpaid venues over the years. Will be playing a private gig during SX Interactive and a couple of St Pattys day boozers and other than that, Im staying the hell away!

I'm a local with a music wristband... will be at the metal venues late night hanging around town
and hooking up for real partying. I'm single again and having a blast!
I wanted to go see Paul Oakenfold, but he was scheduled to start at 2AM this morning. At my age, that's not going to happen.
Some great free shows by some rock legends at South by San Jose. Hard to park, go by bike, scooter or whatever.
