Why so much hate in the Sandbox?

Hi there. I'm brand new here, and I am just looking around here for a decent conversation, but I find myself bombarded with a lot bad manners and rude banter. Is this sub-forum always like this?

You can go to any political oriented Forum on the Internet, and it is the same way.

It is a reflection of how divided this Country is along economic, social, and political lines.

Some people are just rude and obnoxious in any converstaion. The keyboard seems to magnify that particular trait.
The mods decided that this should be a very lightly-regulated, freewheeling forum, and that you should be able to say almost anything without sanction. (Except for a couple of "forbidden topics," as outlined in the forum's list of rules.)

It's always fun to enjoy a good, spirited debate, but a few people here are primarily in it only to annoy and insult people, and rarely post anything of substance. (No need to mention names; they know who they are!) It's easy to lose one's patience with assholes like that, and almost all of us do so from time to time.

Interestingly, there appear to be quite a few people who enjoy following the discussions in this forum, but never post. I've gotten PMs from a number of them who are reticent to post because of all the name-calling.

You have a few people here who cannot express themselves through insult after insult. At times the frustration with dealing with such individuals causes some of us to lower ourselves to their levels. Read for a few days and you see who is who.

Personally, I blame the liberals. I suspect they blame conservatives. I think we are all going down with the ship as the center of power in the world slips away to the far east. My main problem with it is when I'm proven right and the whole thing falls apart, I won't benefit from it, nor will my children.
Saying "I told you so" when I'm 95 will be a hollow victory.
I already feel a little turned off by this. I think I might keep my conversations to my local sub. Thanks though, everyone.
