100 Years of the Income Tax

CuteOldGuy's Avatar
Before 1913, federal income taxes were rare and short-lived. America became the most prosperous nation on earth. The U.S. Government did not try to police the world or play "nanny" to everyone from cradle to grave. People took responsibility for themselves, their families, and their communities. That is how the founders of America thought it should be. And it worked. It can again!

C'mon, guys. I was expecting you to post how wonderful, simple and fair our income tax system is. You love it so much, and here I am making fun of it. Let's hear it for the income tax!

The original tax was designed to be placed on the rich really or anyone who made their money by investments. Money made by the sweat of your brow was pretty much exempt. That is until they realized where the real money was. Since Woodrow Wilson (a progressive racist) and his party pushed for the tax we have added a standing military, bases around the world where we will never see any profit (unlike PR or PI), and an obligation to support a massive infrastructure (FAA, EPA, DOT, DHS, HEW, DOE, etc). Disagree with the programs or not if there was less money then there would less activity.
