Legalize Pot.......What About Drug Tests

First, I think Pot should be legal, At the very least put it on the same level as booze.

But one thing I have to ask is, since just about any job in Manufacturing, Industry or Transportation requires a drug test, what will be the case. Unlike booze, a drug test, especially the ones where they use hair samples, can show up months after usage.

At my business, we have random drug test, mainly for insurance purposes. How will Industry deal with this if Pot is indeed made legal?

Alcohol is legal, doesn't mean you can consume at work in many industries. Furthermore, if it can effect your ability to function to the task at hand, no reason private companies have to allow the consumption for their employees.

Pilots can't drink x amount of hours before flights. Machinery workers can't smoke a bowl x amount of hours before shifts.

Seems pretty simple to me.

I bet that will work very well!

They would have to leave the testing for pot out of the drug test.

Otherwise a lot of legal ramifications.

Maybe develop more accurate tests to determine how long ago someone smoked?

As much as I would love to get into this topic, the board rules are clear

#15 - There is no place in our forums for the general discussion or speculation of illicit drug use. This is to be considered a forbidden topic and mention of it will be removed.
And has been clarified again by management that this topic remains off limits to discussion on the site, even with the changing laws in various states.
