Duke jumped to a conclusion. Only time will tell if he owns up to it.

I still have no qualms with members that stir the pot in discussion. I only have a problem with the moderators who claim something is off topic and disrespectful with very little ground to stand. Blatant and obvious is one thing, but this was a petty distribution of points in my opinion.

I did and still do find my post to be on topic and respectful.

Here is the rule:
#6 - Respect the topics presented by those who start a thread. Attempts to derail a thread or change it's direction is referred to as thread hijack and will be discouraged. Attempts to guide a thread in the right direction are appreciated, while responses to posts which hijack a thread are not.

I think Duke of G put his own spin on the rule when he says, "If you aren't offering, or aren't looking, you have no reason to post."

I call bullshit because a user does have grounds to post if they are posting in "attempt to guide a thread in the right direction." as rule 6 states.

Has to be in the Texas area, and Duke is a long time forum mod who has the respect of a lot of people. You have to remember that different regions are modded differently, and that has to do with the community within that region. What flies in that region doesn't always fly here, and vice-versa.

If you have a question send Duke a PM. I am sure he would be happy to answer your question and further explain any issues you have as long as you ask him about it.

It's Friday and if it is good weather where he is then I hope he is out there soaking it up! I don't hate the man personally, I just disagree with the assumptions that were made and the points that were distributed. It will work itself out, we may find a middle ground, and we may agree to disagree.

Either way, it is time to find a happy hour.

Again you have to realize that the community typically sets the standards for moderation within their region, and each region is different. Its up to the community within that region to determine what they want mods to focus on, and honestly, what mods get away with, good or bad. This comment isn't directed at your situation or Duke, but as a general statement.

I have seen ads here in KC that get flagged and removed but they are common place in Dallas. Same for reviews etc. The guidelines are just that, guidelines, and they are open to interpretation depending on a specific issue or situation. I don't know what happened, or how it was handled, but mods aren't typically the boogie men they are made out to be, at least I would like to think so in my case.
