Coppell's Mayor and Daughter
Good god. I'm getting a little caught up on my news and read about the murder/suicide that happened on Tuesday. Does anyone have any additional information concerning this tragedy?
Anything like this is just horrible but this one was just terrible to read about. I was wondering if anyone might know of a motivation or what might have caused this woman to do this?
Here is a link to a news article that I read on wfaa.com:

Thanks,
Elisabeth
Probably financial, but there no good reason to do it. You can always walk away from the debt. Why would anyone want to hurt their daughter?

Probably the grief of losing her husband to cancer.
it's a tragedy only for the 19-y/o daughter. Otherwise, it's just another case of some selfish person whose feelings of entitlement got the better of them. Leaving notes about taking care of the f*cking dogs and other personal business and nothing about why - give me a freaking break! The mayor got what she wanted ... wonder about the daughter.

Seems to have been planned by the Mom for awhile. She left notes for the police at the front door and in the house with instructions.
If she couldn't cope and wouldn't get help so be it....
But why take her daughter's life? Very sad!
I guess I'm trying to rationalize how a crazy person thinks....

That's what I was wondering. If she had been planning this, then WHY do that to her daughter? Sounded like the daughter had a lot going for her. About to leave to go to UT, which is a damn hard school to get accepted in.
Article suggested some problems between the mom and daughter since death of father. I read stuff like this all of the time, heck, we all do ... but sometimes I read something and it just sticks in my craw.
This one did.
Pathetic.

It is human nature for us to try to understand why folks do what they do. We try to get inside that person's head and try to use logic. But you cannot make sense out of a senseless act.
I read about the tragedy yesterday. Good gosh, what a mess. It's sad that a 19yr old and a mother had to go out that way.
This mornings paper mentioned something about the daughter getting ready for college. The empty nest syndrome combined with her husbands death was probably more than she could stand without the professional help she may have avoided.
Depression can be very difficult to manage and is hard to understand.
It is a sad story.
oh wow i saw this on the news yesterday but i didnt know it was a murder suicide i thought they were both murdered! sheesh that is sooo sad! the daughter and i were friends on a social networking site and she was a pretty and funny girl...
i can not think of one reason for her mother to do this, its such a tragedy!!
It begs the question of how nuts she was as the Mayor? lack of rational thought at home had to carry over to being nuts on the job also.
No real use in trying to figure out what happened.
Maybe she got in an argument with the the daughter about something, words were exchanged and mom went off and shot the 19 year old.
Then once she realized what she did, mom went around in a weird state of mind and wrote notes, fed the dogs, got everything ready and offed herself.
Will they be having a special election now?
If you've never dealt with the suicide of a family member or someone that was just like family, you are on the outside looking in.
Death is rarely taken well, suicides even worse, and the combination suicide and illing your own child even more so. It's hard to say what goes on in the mind of someone who wishes to take their own life. But it does no good to try and vilify them after death for being selfish or whatever.
Most people who do it (or attempt it) are hurting somehow, they feel alone and see no way out of the very dark and lonely place they are in. Death and the ending of the pain are welcome thoughts to them. If you've never dealt with it personally it's very hard to explain. And as a survivor all you can do is think you know about what happened, but ultimately you really never do.
It's sad what happened. But what's done is done. It's best to remember them while they were still alive. All you have are the memories you choose to keep.
If you understand it, get some counseling now, it will never make sense...there is no justification...God bless 'em for what they just went through...God bless 'em...
