The Term "Master Bedroom" is Now..."Politically Incorrect?"

For as long as I can remember, the terms "master bedroom" and "master suite" have been used to denote the bedroom and bedroom/bathroom areas used by the head(s) of a household.

But since the word "master" might have connotation issues, it looks like it's being phased out:

People have actually filed lawsuits against builders over the use of the term? Wow.

In any event, it looks like the term "owner's suite" is becoming de rigueur.

Marketers do tend to eschew controversial terms, as well as employ smooth-sounding euphemisms whenever possible. Some years ago, I was looking at a home built by a spec builder in Colorado. In his glossy brochure, the garage was labeled "automobile storage."

I guess the word "garage" just didn't quite sound genteel enough!
Up is the new Down?...LOL

Another sign of the neo-socialist movement. PenMANship is also on the outs, in more ways than one.
Haha, that's pathetic. So it's called an "Owners Suite" now. It's a shame we have to change terminology in order for people to feel comfortable.

the term politically incorrect, is now politically incorrect, and I propose to sue anyone that uses it.
I think owner's suite sounds silly. If they called it the main or primary bedroom/suite I don't think that would sound quite as ridiculous. And I gotta say, reversing the 'er' to make it "mastre suite" is truly, absolutely BEYOND stupid. It somehwo managse to be stupdi AND pretentiosu at the saem tiem, whihc woudl be impressiev if it wast'n so, well, stupid.

Are we going to do away with phrases like 'master switch' too?

What would be a shame would be if they made a law aganist it.

Look, people don't use the n word on this very board , that was the result of PC. Is that good or bad? Shame or no shame?

Personally i wish we would teach people that words are just words and actions are how you judge people. NO PC person here, I will still ask where the master br is when looking to buy a house.

You don't understand (or you're just happy that it was done and don't want to say so). Now that the decision has been made to do away with a word (see the book 1984) the students in schools will not be allowed to used the word. Soon the word will dissappear and our language will less rich and informative. The forces of dark liberalism strike again.

Cellmate replies, " I killed my whole family man, they were all found dead in the Owners Suite" " My Lawyer tells me they'll probably go easy on me because I didn't kill them in the Living Room", lol.

What about master and slave cylinders?
All the foreign and domestic automobile manufacturers should be sued for that terminology.
