Reviews Revisited

The Drummer's Avatar
I’ve been away from the Forum for a while and did a lot of catching up today. Certainly, not to be critical or the grammar police – please take this in the spirit intended – use paragraphs. My eyes and head are killing me right now! Some write a treatise and don’t break with paragraphs. You don’t have to be an English major. Please, just break up the text.

Anyway, getting to the point: DD’s thread, “Reviews ... a comment for both the ladies & gents”.

While reading everyone’s valuable insights on the topic, something came to mind – something analogous to eBay. Both the Buyer and the Seller are akin to the Reviewer and the “Reviewee” here on ECCIE.

When shopping eBay, it’s always wise to not only research the Seller’s Feedback Profile, but also the Buyer’s Feedback Profile.

The Seller, at first blush, may get the lion’s share of attention when one considers a purchase. What Buyers doing business with this Seller were satisfied, which were not? Now we have a quick overview of the Seller’s history (good or bad). But what’s revealed when probing the Buyer?

Investigating Buyer history may very well unearth a pattern. Buyers giving said Seller a bad rating, upon closer scrutiny, may have a history of being problematic to all Sellers. Invalid complaints, unreasonable demands, etc. are descriptors that may become all too apparent.

So, I guess, what I’m trying to say in a roundabout way is this; when deciphering the validity of ECCIE reviews, consider all sources. Of course, what’s reviewed with reference to the Provider should carry weight. But what about the reviewer?

We can, most often, identify and validate by searching other reviews of an individual Provider by certain members; we can look at the reviews of different Providers by one member; we can, basically, generalize personality types and credibility by the member's musings in posts by engaging the “Find All Posts By” feature of the Forum. Then we can better decide whether or not to place credence in what we read.

Please respond if you think I’m full of shit!!!

Those that know me know I don’t review. So let me reiterate why. This was posted in DD’s thread:

The dynamics of this community and reviews, in particular, can be pretty complex...

I, myself, don't review. What’s good for me may not be good for the next person or vice versa. The relationship and interaction between two people is synergetic. There are just too many variables.

mmmmm The problem with this analogy is that some buyers way over fluff the seller. Leading some buyers down a path they would not go.

Now as I stopped being a hobbyist before ever joining a board. But went back for a short time on ASPD trying out the new to me candy store. Along with meeting many of the lady's at M&G's and dealing with on the board. I find I enjoy most of the lady's on the board(not all) and if I meet they where about just what I was thinkin.

Now when I read some reviews(not all but many) I find myself thinkin, who the fuck is this woman. Then have to go back to the top and remind myself. A few seem to get more overly fluffy reviews that others. note: right now just thinkin of lady's I like if had BCD or just chat over a drink. Now if you have a buyer relying on reviews from other buyers. Now being lead down a path he would never go reading the overly fluffed reviews. No way in hell can you give him a hard time for the "no" review or till him he is wrong, mean, etc. As he was lead down where he would have not gone, getting hammered by the very guys that lead him there errr WTF.

Most "no" review I have read seem to have been buyer taking to much stock in what other buyers reviewed before that was overly fluffed. ahhh my opinion.

Now the problem with reviews I see as overly fluffed.
Some where a sell job intent on dragging them in for the cash.
Some well it just the way they see things.
Some are just ass kissing to be seen in a good light by other guys and gals
Some mmm aaaa welllll crap some guys should never never never see the same provider more than three times(see just the way they see things again)(A few never more than once)

So now as you can see you can not box in all the "no" reviewer. Or most of the fluff reviewers. Add in YMMV errrr what a headache.

Now that leaves one in not only trying to find the gal he would enjoy. But needs also to finding the reviewer to lead him there. lurkers and reviewers. MMMMMM and some wounder I stop being a hobbyist, and only went back a short time when joining a board.

Now the problem with my reviews are twofold mmm or is that threefold or more LOL. Funny, confusing, hard to read. Well I try and write them as soon as I can after. If it was some one I have seen many times well there is no acting getting in the way(mmm that true for some I seen only a few times)ahhhh YMMV. I put way too much info in with too few of words trying to be funny for most to be able ta comprehend or have the patience ta try. With the added most gals do not waste time acting for me(but I do miss two pops and a meal). When still dizzy from the time and lack of sleep. mmmm patience is a key word for me. Just how many of you would put up with what I put up with. well one I see does have about 12 like me LOL.
Take shopping, be called a fucking ass hole to your face and still have a good time.
Anyways, 90%(maybe 99%) should not read my reviews as shopping for a good time. Or think more or less of them from reading my reviews. Just enjoy em or hate em

mmmmm I can see parallels in the story

The Sound and the Fury is a novel written by the American author William Faulkner. It employs a number of narrative styles, including the technique known as stream of consciousness
and in my writing

analyze the collected works of OSD
being that most are on a SHMB, that would be like analyzing the thoughts of a horny toad stuffed toy. mmmmm and one sits on my dash. Given to me by a women I have had more than one affair with. That seems to be the favorite thing providers hit me with when acting like mmmmmmmm a horny toad

but mine is green and blue with white horns and thorns

OSD’s right about “Buyer Fluff”. I never considered it in my analysis, but I’ve seen it mentioned in a considerable amount of Board correspondence.

Possible reasons for Buyer Fluff could be: not wanting to hurt feelings; not wanting to make enemies (provider or Board member); wanting to somehow bolster image and/or self-esteem; to gain a more positive foothold when considering future benefits of the Buyer/Seller relationship; not wanting others to know that they’d been taken.

In the occasion of the last circumstance illustrated, I would think that some individuals who’d been taken just wouldn’t review. This would serve as a means to save face. But, then again? there’s PA.

In the instance of the eBay analogy, let me add, I’m guilty of fluffing Sellers myself. I hate to give a poor rating unless, of course, I got reamed badly – which fortunately hasn’t happened yet.

One time I bought a brand new Mets jersey at a great price. When it arrived I found it to have a whole bunch of what looked to be tiny oil spots. So, I got out the toothbrush and the detergent to see if I could get them out. They came out. I then contacted the Seller to inform him of the spots and that I had gotten them out. He offered an exchange or a refund, plus return shipping. I told him forget it. I said the spots came out and I purchased the item at a more-than-fair price.

So, I guess, everything’s relevant concerning value proposition in all facets of doing business, including what some of us engage in here. So, let’s add one more element to the “Fluffer” list: Perceived Value.

The eBay Seller sold me a product at a great price (albeit it the tiny spots which came out); when made aware of what he perceived as my dissatisfaction, he offered to make it right. I gave him a Five-Star Rating.

Sorry everyone. I’m off work today and my mind’s bored.

Maybe I should start putting ships in bottles or something.

I agree that sometimes there is "fluff."

However, I also think a lot of times positive reviews are considered fluffy by some readers when I do not think they are. There are plenty of great ladies who have great takin' care of business skills and are great to be with!

Extremes:
If there is no negative that is pointed out, people claim there must be negatives to point out and call it fluff.

If the review is with a provider a gent has reviewed before, people claim favoritism.

If the review is too respectful and plain, people say we need more juicy details!

If the review is too juicy it can't possibly be true!

I try to read the reviews as a whole, with no single point standing out more than another.

This is what I focus on when reading a prospective client's reviews:

URL/Website: I check the URL/Website and hope she is at least on Eccie, and preferably with a dot com. I prefer to visit with a man who visits with professionals.

Physical Description: I check the body style the gent likes, the way the description is written, and sometimes the side note on the overall personality/feel of the provider (which I like when this is added.)

Age: I prefer to visit with a man who visits with mature women.

Activities: I skim the activities to make sure there are none listed repeatedly that I absolutely dislike.

I briefly take in the cities, session length, and fee to try to get a feel for the man's hobby preferences.

Additionally, when there are comments on the review of the hobbyist who wants to schedule time with me, I read the comments to see how that person responds to the feedback supplied.

They try and curry favor with the providers. They literally fawn over them. It makes me want to puke. I have seen some providers after reading some "fluffy" review and thought to myself, I was blatantly lied to.
