There are many of us that have hobbied for years without LE problems...however make no mistake about it, there is always a risk.. If you are looking for risk free hobby...I suggest stamp collecting.
However there are very specific steps that can be taken to seriously lower the LE risk...
1)Research, research and then when you're done...research some more. This is a great site to research the ladies....just need to tip toe around all those drama kings, lol.
2)Build up your reputation and references with the ladies (and eventually after you have established yourself...the back channel communications thru Eccie with other hobbists is amazing.
3)Don't have a reference....there are newbie friendly ladies (again research). You might have to select one or two that are not exactly your style...but you now have some solid references. BTW, there are some very solid choices with newbie friendly ladies.
4) If you decide to be a regular player, these IMO, are critical steps to take NOW...
a) pick and visit with a criminal attorney NOW....don't wait until you need them. Don't pick some guy who does traffic tickets. Pick the real deal criminal attorney, to establish a contact now....not later. Most lawyers will not charge you for the initial visit. Personally, I make sure I have contact with my attorney, at least once a year. I want to make sure, if that day comes, that I need him....he knows who I am.
There will be some who say, they are willing to go thru the LE process, without an attorney. That's their choice, and I'm sure they eventually get done with all the legal stuff.
Personally, I want an attorney, who I make the phone call to, and he makes things go away. Yes it comes with a price...but one that I'm totally comfortable with. So to each
there own.
b) Pick a couple of bondsmen...NOW. You may have the best attorney in the world. But at 1am in the morning he/she will be of no help to you, in terms of getting out of jail. And have more than one bondsman in your wallet...just to be safe. I meet with my bondsman, once to establish myself. I them call
him once a year...just to make sure he is still around, and recognizes my name. Your attorney should be
able to give you references.
Miscell thoughts...if busted....shut up. Cops are not your friend, personally I would shut up, and then let my attorney talk for me.
Also, don't have any type of illegal substance with you, on a date. The date charges are fairly easy to make go away. The substance charges
become far more potentially complicated.
There are a couple of other ideas I have....but these are the basic steps I have taken to protect myself.
Others may have totally different game plans...just sharing mine with you. And of course a big factor is how involved you decide to get into the hobby. Small participation would certainly negate most of what I suggested

The only thing that I can add to that is when you do come face to face with LE.
understand that you are going to get arrested, you are not going to talk your way out of it, so STFU.
Just remember that being arrested and being convicted are two completely different things.
EDITED TO INCLUDE THE EDITING OF THE EDIT... lol
