I made an appointment yesterday with a favorite provider for today - only to realize later that a while back I had already made a dental appointment right before that. Despite the non-ideal situation, I decided to keep the appointments because I hate to cancel.
The visit to the dentist went fine - but I left with one side of my mouth still numb. Shortly after that, I arrived at the provider's incall. I explained my condition. She was sympathetic and thanked me for not cancelling.
Despite my less-than-perfect speech, we had our usual enjoyable chat to start. When it was time to get comfortable, it became clear that one of my favorite activities - DFK - would be a casualty. The loss in both sensitivity and flexibility on one side of my lips was a real bummer, made more regretable by the fact that this provider does great DFKs. Fortunately, the rest of the activities were not as much affected. Even DATY did not suffer much, judging from her response and testimony. And the anesthetics had no effect on other vital organs.
All in all, the DFK-challenged session was still very satisfying. But I will definitely avoid scheduling a dentist and a provider back-to-back in the future.
