lots of various types of motels along i-40. the nicest seems to be the holiday inn downtown if you're looking more upscale. i've heard you should stay clear of the loves truckstop areas.

Hi Kylie-- while that is a nice motel you probably do not want to be in downtown Amarillo.. Aside from the occasional chaos of Polk Street after dark (with a ton of LE presence) there is nothing to do down in that area.

Your best bet is west I-40 area (from say Georgia west) or the south I-27 area.
Yes, I drove thru AMA today. I see a newer nicer hotels along West I -40. Have fun in AMA.
Kylie - I live in Amarillo and have used many of the hotels here. There is a nice Marriott downtown. If you are planning on being here for the weekend there are several great clubs downtown. Bodega's is a chic wine and jazz club. Sassy's is where most 20 something's go, but it caters to a lot of gay, lesbian and bisexuals as well as straight. Crush is a wine bar, Butlers has every martini imaginable, Pink is a sports bar. If you like sushi, Rain is the place to go! They serve food until 10, then it turns into a nightclub until 2 am.
The bad thing about staying downtown is the parking for clients.
I would recommend staying at any of the hotels on Soncy and I-40. Coulter is the medical district and they have some high end hotels but are scuzzy and dangerous. There is a holiday inn by the movie theatre (cinema rd and I-40) which is close to Soncy. Country Inn and Suites, The Drury, Homewood Suites, Hilton Garden are all on Soncy and I-40.
Best of Luck!
