Close and destroy this account. I am retiring from hobbying. I had met a young lady and we got along fine. I can no longer contribute to her or any other who are in a similar situation.

Everyone is being so nice and understanding, now I am having second thoughts. Maybe I just need an extended hiatus.

Could this be put off for a while, moderator? I'll most likely take a long break then decide in a few weeks.

I believe you can ask to "guest" your account and then reactivate it when you had a long and good break (and you do need one !!!).

Mods, is there any place where the different options for cancel/delete/guest/etc accounts is explained?

Yeah, I'm not going to see anyone for a good while, if I do at all. No need to guest my account. I think it should stay the same. I have worked this out --- the girl is so awesome, she'd probably see me again. But I wouldn't do that to her, not again.

Rule 1) the Hobby is not a dating service

Rule 2) Those who cannot respect Rule 1) will soon discover (or re-discover) the reason for Rule 1).

That said, in my multiple decades of hobbying, I need only the fingers of one hand to tally the number of couples who have successfully met, engaged, successfully left the hobby and married or are still together. And I don't need the thumb.
