Please provide some perspective

It seems that rates are constantly being discussed, but that is only part of the time expended by the provider. I am curious.

For every hour that a provider spends with a client, how much time is generally spent on:
Posting ads
Setting appointments
Checking & giving references
Traveling to/from sessions
Preparing for a session
Texting and communicating with regular clients

I will be surprised if that big money that each client feels he is paying isn’t so big after all. A provider sells her time, yet only when she on actually on a date or in a session. The other time is really not recouped or otherwise accounted for. And that doesn’t count the cost of advertising, the price of an incall or the travel expenses to an outcall. Can the providers help set us clients straight???
Well an incall is atleast a few hundred a week (and don't forget to tip the maid).

For the ladies who post on backpage multiple times a day (I post there and I know some others on here do as weill) It is $10 a post in kansas city (each city price varies).. so depending on how many times a day you want to post that could vary between $10-$30 a day..
not to mention there are a bunch of screening sites and a lot of them cost.
Don't forget to ad in the cost of supplies that will be used during the session (ladies who offer msog go through a box VERY fast lol) some girls have other props in their sessions too.

Some pay for photos to be taken, the outfits to wear in the photos.

Most girls have a personal phone along with a provider phone (some just use google voice but that is not ideal for me)

If you are touring then you may need to rent a car, plus pay for each meal out since it isn't typically practical to cook while touring (lol)

Checking reference can either take 10 minutes or it can be a huge hassle and take 2 days. sometimes you don't even hear back depending on the provider.

Yes it is a pain in the ass sometimes with ads, appointment setting, keeping up on the alerts, and references.. but I love this lifestyle and wouldn't trade it for a thing at this point in my life. I love my job Every job comes with ups and downs but spending my days with you sweet men and having our hot steamy fun makes it worth it

Gas isn't exactly cheap either if you're driving between tour cities or even just doing outcalls.

I wonder how many girls that tour actually lose money from what they could have made just staying in their home area?

Other costs of time for the ladies:

1) Time wasters -- guys who just want to chat or ask a million questions and then never book
2) Beauty regimen (gym, tan, hair, nails, makeup) -- sure, you could say that a normal woman would do all of those things, but it isn't part of their job so they really don't have to. And a escort will probably have to do her hair and makeup a lot more often. Plus those things have a monetary cost as well as a time cost.
3) Managing her business -- if she doesn't pay someone to do it (which costs money), she has to worry about marketing, advertising, social media like this site, and accounting (investments, taxes!).

I asked a while back for ladies to estimate how much work they did per one hour appointment and none would tell me. i understand that. It is business information, like asking a restaurant about their profit margin. Still, it almays makes me shake my head when guys say "$200 per hour is outrageous! I pay my lawyer more than that. That's 5 times what i make!". As if the ladies are getting up in the morning, seeing eight guys in eight hours and pocketing $1600.

All the providers that I have been to are independents I am amazed how hard they work to do all these things to keep their business in the black. Another reason to treat them with respect. It is a lot of work before they even take their clothes off. So, never waste their time and if you need to cancel give them plenty of time to possibly rebook that time.

I wasn't the first one to say this but being a sex worker in today's society is a desk job.

It takes hours upon admin hours to get appointments, do the advertising, answer e-mails, etc. per week.

It's a VERY minor part of our schedule to see clients. I wish that it was a larger percentage!

Good topic. Very realistic, too.
Let's not forget, most are single mothers... that cost sure adds up, too.

Plus, I know for me, personally, that it takes me an hour and a half to get completely showered, make up & hair done, and dressed in whatever's been requested...then travel time, too, if it's outcall. By that point I've already invested almost 2 hours into our date before we even meet, not to mention the time it took to verify you and answer emails, calls and texts. That's why it's SUPER annoying to me when someone waits til 15 minutes beforehand to cancel...I'm already invested in the date!

I only ever had to cancel last minute one time and that was because I accidentally sliced my head open while shaving it ending up with 6 stitches in the back of my head and being at a urgent care place for close to 2 hours. It was fun times.
What the F were you shaving with? A Machete?

Also have to factor in that there is a short window to make the money. Most people can expect to make progressively more as they gain experience. Providers maybe not so much. Just check out all the new ladies on bp everyday.

Still getting paid $1200 cash a day without paying any taxes is pretty cool.

I would also think that the legal and physical risk that providers incur would have to be a factor. Does price point control the type of clientele, indicate the quality of service or both? This is an Interesting topic.
