If that is all it is and it is a city citation then review the diversion policy on the city attorney's web site and call and simply ask if the charge can be diverted. You aren't admitting anything and they mostly want money. If you don't have a record you will likely get it. It's like probation without conviction and if you get in no more trouble, then the charge is dismissed at the end if the diversion period--typically 12 months. Here is the info:

Or if you can get the humane society to certify you are a dog, they will let you plead no contest to 'dog at large' and buy tags. The girls like the tags, but the shots really sting.
