As stated in an earlier ISO thread. I plan on coming down to N.O. this month for vacation. I have looked around on the net quite a bit for a place to stay. Asking for alittle feedback here on where to stay. I found some reasonable priced hotels not in the FQ but close. Staying in the FQ is very intriquing to me since I have never been to N.O. My question is...is that a good idea? I mean, I want to be a part of the party atmosphere, but also want a fairly quiet room to kick back in. Is the FQ that loud throughout the night to where it would just be a hassle for me?
I'm looking at a place under 75 a night since I see you have to pay for parking also...grrrr. Found some nice ones for that price in and around the FQ. Any recommendations on lodging?
There are too many to choose from. For $75 and under you might not have luck booking in the FQ unless you use Priceline or another similar service. If you do stay in the FQ, ask for an inside room when you book so you're not on a street side where all the noise is. Staying on Canal St. is closer to the FQ than the Warehouse District/Arts/Convention Center area (which may have better rates and cheaper parking since they're just a bit farther from the action).
If you have a few in mind we might be able to give you details on them and suggest which might be better or preferred.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I went to the official N.O website, and they go through Hotels.com. I'm basing my interest off of price and reviews.
Close to FQ:
Wyndham Garden Hotel Baronne Plaza...201 Baronne St...$55.47/night
Whitney Wyndham Hotel...610 Poydras St...$55.30/night
La Quinta Inn Dowtown N.O 301 Camp St...$60/night (leaning towards)
In FQ:
Prince Conti Hotel...830 Conti St...$59/night
Country Inn and Suites FQ (or so that say?)...315 Magazine St...$63.20/night
Holiday Inn FQ...124 Royal St...$72.95/night
These are some that are appealing to me. Just want a decent place at a decent location to lay my head down in between sight seeing, and yes..Hobbying! I guess it wouldn't be a bad question to ask the ladies if any of these places would you feel comfy with visiting on an outcall if the situation arose? Need to cover my bases here.
I'd reccomend staying IN da Quarter - that's where the action is.
The only place you listed in the Quarter that I'm familiar with is the Holiday Inn on Royal. While I've never stayed there before, I've visited several traveling ladies there. Decent place; and within walking distance to everywhere you'd want to go.
It'll be hot as hell, dress appropriately, and bring comfortable shoes. The Quarter is a great place to stroll around. And spend a little time OFF Boubon Street. The entire Quarter has it's charms.
I was mugged by the prince conti about 6 yrs ago
so i dont like goin to that side of th FQ anymore.
Canal st is you best bet
Royal is a nice street too! and more quiet at night
Stavin's right about the Holiday Inn. I have both stayed there and visited ladies there. They have huge garage to park in and everything else is right within walking distance. The only potential drawback(unless they have changed it) is that you have to go down to the lobby to escort all guests up. The elevator will not let you off into the hotel itself without a room key.
BOOKIT.COM is best site to use.....you can pick your otel & most times you get free parking!! Have fun!!!

I like the Monteleone on Royal and they have valet so you won't get mugged lol. I also like the Windsor Court, Le Pavillon, and the "W".
Wow glad you just asked this as I was just fixing to as well. Dallas saw where you mentioned bookit on another thread. Love that site checked it out earlier today. Thanks gurl.
Thanks London for the suggestions.
yes when I used to do incalls at hotels...I got the Ambassader in warehouse district for only $60 bucks on bookit.com..w free parking!
Thats a great hotel...quiet/old style carm/wood floors/iron beds/discrete
Awesome.... again THANKS gurlie
I usually stay at the Doubletree on Canal. It's right next to Harrah's casino by the river. It's a short walk to Bourbon. Stayed there a couple weeks ago for $80. Nice room too, quiet.
Try kayak. The hotel I stayed at only charged me for one day of parking. I remember someone posted if you play at Harrah's they will comp parking? That cost might depend on luck/skill. I also book through jetsetter a lot. Best hotels at half off.
First trip - stay in the FQ and don't stay at a newer corp hotel.
