On Her 5th Try, 64-year-old Diana Nyad Completes 103-mile Cuba-to-Florida Swim

Wow -- talk about determination and guts.

I remember reading about Nyad's first stab at this way back in 1978, when she was 29 years old. Despite suffering various setbacks during earlier attempts, she apparently just decided that she was not going to be denied.

Since I'm younger than she is (although by only a year), after reading about this amazing feat I'm going to feel a lot of personal embarrassment the next time I have trouble managing to get my lazy ass onto an elliptical machine or treadmill for 30-45 minutes!
