Concerts

Bailey's post on her trip to see Nine Inch Nails (hope I got that right) got me to thinking.

Who are Bands or Muscians that you have seen lately?

Of all the concerts I have been to my favorites are Jimmy Buffet's walk on at Margaritaville in Jamaca, George Strait's first time at Houston Rodeo (when Eddie Rabbit got sick and could not perform) and the lovely Shania Twain.

I remember these concerts - Elton John, Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, ZZ Top, CCR, Lynyrd Skynyrd (one of there last), KISS, Monkeys and Beatles. So many others.

Took my daughter to see Lady Gaga, now that was an eye opening event for me.

Don't know if it still happens (probably does) but that cloud that would be there from all the pot smoking, man those were the days.

Who are your favorites.

In the last couple of years I have seen:

Nine Inch Nails
TOOL x2
The Eagles
Puscifer x2
A Perfect Circle
Alice in Chains
Powerman 5000
5FDP
Killswitch Engage
Marilyn Manson
Miranda Lambert
Whiskey Myers
JB and the moonshine band

I am sure there are a few I am not thinking of. I have a VERY eclectic taste in music.

Traveler...to answer you about the infamous cloud....yep it's still there lol. I like your second list. Lots of those I would kill to see.

I miss going out to see music.
BUT I like small venues.

I feel so out of the loop musically lately.

back in January or February I saw Down (ex-Pantera singer Phil Anslemos super group)

I also saw Yngwie Malmsteen earlier this year as well.

not too sound like a hipster, but not enough of my favorite bands come to San Antonio, and when they do its at the most in-opportune-time. I have to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra one of these days.

I do like the overflow from SXSW.

I do regret missing Thurston from Sonic Youth this year at the Korova.
Would have put my reservations about venue aside to see NIN.
Kristin Chenoweth another one.
Would have liked KMFDM to come to San Antonio.

I'm just depressing myself.
Especially since the concert season slows down when it get cold.
I've seen some local artists perform, The Weeknd recently.. back in the day I've seen Metallica, SOAD, The Deftones, Korn, Blink 182, Pantera, Alice Cooper, The Scorpions, Marilyn Manson, Courtney Love, NIN, a lot of random punk bands... I miss going to concerts too!

Yeah... I wasn't into punk rock so I don't remember a lot of the names. But I had this awesome job that would send me to all these concerts back in the day... lol

I've seen and enjoy too many different bands to list...

But as for who Ive seen recently,
I was in Fairfax Virginia this past 4th of July,
eating and sipping wine alone at a restaurant across the street from my hotel. I asked the bartender for any suggestions of what was going on that night.
Turns out there was a huge Free outdoor music fest going on, ended up getting to see a couple great bands, but the best part for me was I got to see Third Eye Blind, And then The B-52's!
Pretty cool seeing how it was totally unexpected! Free is good too lol. Turned out to be a great 4th of July!

Man I forgot about seeing Chicago for $5 in Kingsville, Texas in 1972. Man 41 years ago, I am old.

I miss going out to see music.

Agree Precious.

Remember when an singer was just getting started. Like when I saw George Strait for the first time in Victoria, Texas at Sun Valley Club in 1977. We were 3 feet from him on stage, man that would never happen again.

The song writers are the real ones we need to thank, they are some of the true poets.
