Always wanted to try Louis Mueller BBQ in Taylor but I have never been through there may have to make a special trip one of these days they are supposed to be one of the best.
As for San Antonio my favorites are Snoga's BBQ over on Goliad rd they have some of the best brisket and country sausage in town IMO. The also do a Turkey and dressing dinner on Sundays that is the best (aside from my mom's that is).
I also like texas pride as well I have never really cared for Rudy's and if I want just a quick brisket fix Bill Miller's BBQ always fits the bill. Also love their fried chicken but since this is a bbq thread we won't get into that.
I grew up on Blacks.....I 2nd & 3rd that vote. Kruez-in Lockhart & City Market-Luling 2nd runner up. In San Antonio...Texas Pride-1604 & FM 1396,. Mr. J's on S. New Bruanfels Ave, Bibbs on Austin Hwy & Lanark
I only go to Rudy's when out of towners visit and they just have to have creamed corn.
Whenever possible, I do my best to break that habit by taking them to the Smokehouse at Roland and Rigsby or the Rusty Bucket off of 90 and McMullen, I think.
Far superior BBQ to either Rudy's or TRH in San Antonio.
As I have only tried Stubbs in Austin (to this day I use their spinach, cheese and egg dish), I can't logically comment on their other BBQ joints.
I have been to Kruez in Lockhart twice in the past twenty yr tour of S.A. and that is damn good BBQ.
For the others that were mentioned in SA, try Rusty Bucket and Smokehouse at Roland and Rigsby. You may reassess your viewpoint on good BBQ.
