I appreciate the recent thread sending condolences and comfort to me on the loss of my beloved Stormy chihuahua. She was a brave wee wagging lass who fought a long battle, nearly 3 years, with congestive heart failure. She was nearly 16 years old, and for a dog who wasn't supposed to live past 4 due to epilepsy, she was a tough fighter to the end.
Stormy was a rare pup, intelligent and conniving, affectionate and cute, demanding, consoling, mischievous, strong-willed, playful, and, like my Sweet Pea (also waiting at the Rainbow Bridge), she was one of the very special critters who could grab your heart and hold it in her paws. We are lucky to have these loyal, loving creatures trot through our lives.
l have 4 other chihuahuas, Stormy's mother Frosty, nearly 18, Stormy's siblings Buttercup and Little Man Casper, and Truffles (aka Troubles, as she's into everything), pushing 17. That is the entire remaining population of the Irish Chihuahua Refuge. Stormy was their ringleader, so they are confused and depressed. Dogs grieve, too.
Everyone go hug your pets! If you feel the need to share your health and happiness this holiday season, please make a contribution to a local animal shelter, or better yet, adopt a dog or cat, the truest friend you will ever have.
Thank you. Mods, please close this thread immediately. There is no need for further comments.
