Anyone ever had to deal with workers comp claim?

So I've been messing with a workers comp claim for damn near 2 months and haven't worked in that time nor gotten paid, I'm dead broke, it sucks... Long story, kinda boring...
The short version-- I messed up my elbow at work, the company doesn't give a fuck and didn't even file it until the past legal time to do so (gonna turn them into to Fraud and Non Compliance), filed for short term disability and it got denied, now have a lawyer involved...

So my question is- has anyone dealt with anything like this? This is all new to me...
Any advice, or knowledge?

I havent been exposed to your type of situation, but I know someone who was just trying to get my work to pay for the injury itself since she was able to work still. It took way too much effort to get them to say it happened as part of the job even though it was on work property going inbetween two work duties.
