Pure candy I would always say pralines. But my favorite New Orleans dessert is White Chocolate Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce.

Many places ship King cakes this time of year and some put extra stuff in the package like beads and stuff to send a little Mardi Gras their way.
Definitely send her a King Cake. Lots of people don't like them, but the old-style King Cakes are great.

A friend of mine waits every year for his. I send him one from Rouse's. While I won't say they are the best around it is very good and I get them to include a pound of Community Coffee with it (he can't get that either).

Rouse's is very good too! They also do filled or original, which is like a cinnamon bun! Ummmmmm.......

Almond wedding cake is generally delicious anywhere unless it's really poorly made. Petite Fours are usually yummy as well. But you can't beat Randazzo's king cakes.
