DEI is DEAD, is the Rooney Rule next?

All I see is excuses.

But not fairness and equal treatment of DEI principles.

Different jobs. Different skills. Different hiring methods. And a union.

They won't be consistent.

They also won't pay the same for coaches and players. That's equity. And then merit within equity.

This may actually be an argument for the end of Rooney rule. There are now many instances of minority “candidates” that don’t have a chance getting interviewed so the team can check a box.

That said - Goodell also stated that teams are free
to HIRE WHOMEVER THEY WISH. (Except for a manager who
surely wants to bring back the "Redskins" name)

So, in HIS opinion (Goodell's) the Rooney Rule means
INTERVIEWING and not necessarily HIRING.

Salty, the Kneelers have used the RR for the sake of mediocrity, honestly, I see no other reason to keep giving Tomlin contracts.

The perceived trap is in how you're constructing the argument. The reason it doesn't constrain me is because the draft isn't the same type of application process and the nature of the roles are vastly different. You can apply similar principles. And teams can fill spots with undrafted talent, which is yet another vector.

You guys kill me. It's has to be a DEI problem and can't just be mismanagement and underperformance.

This may be over intellect capacity of some.

If you are the original sponsor of an act, The Rooney Rule. How can you in good conscience and equity not hire a minority head coach whether the person is the best candidate or not. This is painting yourself in a corner.

It's sad that's all you can see, because of how that colors every other decision made afterwards in your eyes.
