Nyla, you should definitely go with Fireserpent if he has the time. I've taken a look at the link to his photos, as I'm sure you have, and the photos are professional and well done. I do have professional gear and am building a portfolio. However, this is a part time endeavor for me. I have done some fashion shoots, but mostly I have done event coverage. If it doesn't work out with Fireserpent keep me in mind. I have a couple of friends with studios that we could use. I would be happy to do it for the opportunity to build my portfolio.

I just took a look at your photos. I think you look super adorable in image 6 of the 8. Some girls I would put on a bike, others I would shoot in the West Bottoms or a park/water scene. However, after seeing your photos I would photograph you in a high-end hotel setting. You do look high-end. Just need to set the scene.

A word of unsolicited advice....never barter or trade as you offered. Someone or both usually end up on the short end and unhappy. Moreso, in a situation like this both typically have a different idea of worth, particularly when you're both artists, so to speak. Take the extraneous self interest out of it for both of you and leave your occupation or reason out of it. They don't need to know and you don't need any new buddies with ulterior motives. (Take someone with you who will be objective and firm yet have fun with it, if you can.)

Research is pretty easy these days and there are professional designations showing those who are qualified. Find a good glamour photographer with a legitimate and recognized published professional designation. Photographers generally have to offer a portfolio to get the designation which is judged by other professionals before the designation is granted. Alternatively, look at portfolios online and pictures you like and find out who did them. In addition to the suggestions here, EF has good ones and Ari on here could probably tell you who those girls used. Just an idea.

And pay for the work. It doesn't cost that much and you each know your own expectations of one another. The photographer expects to get paid for good work, you get to see it before you decide to buy it or not (beyond the sitting fee) and you expect good pictures free of any claim to copyright or trademark, other than your own, with rights reserved only to you--and get that in writing. Deal with all of that and cost up front and keep looking if it's unreasonable.

And for the sake of us all, have your pictures look like you realistically. No butt in the lense, missing midsection, goofy poses or costumes AND NO DUCK FACE. Playboy does it as good as any--that's what you need--without the photoshop. You have the look and that is all you need.
