There may be some truth in this in the following sense.

First, obviously there are always exceptions to any generalization like this.

Nevertheless the young ones without skills, or with an unwillingness to please despite skills, can still get by on looks and by constantly attracting new customers. As those looks fade, and as their novelty in the marketplace lessens and new customers are harder to find, unless they change their ways their business is going to diminish. The ones who do give good service are going to be able to build up repeat customers who know they have value despite their age and lack of market novelty. The ones who don't will drop out.

In short, among young providers the skilled and the unskilled/unwilling can make a living. Among older providers the unskilled/unwilling will be winnowed out.

This is opposed to, for example, what you might find just picking random women out of the general population. I think there is *some* learning that takes place, but I think in this case the odds of finding a skilled younger versus mature woman are much closer than in the population of sex workers.
