The states do for themselves until they request aid. Governor Blanco of Louisiana did not request aid for four days and the governors of Michigan did not request aid. I'm surprised that you didn't blame Governor Romney for the collapse...George Romney! The last GOP mayor of Detroit left office in 1962. Do the math.

Lots of things resulted in Detroit's current condition....not the least of which was Republican/Conservative greed. It slays me that you fucking idiots want to pick out a city like Detroit and lay all the fault at the Democrats doorstep....but, you completely neglect to acknowledge the republican role in the economic meltdown that has occurred in the United States over the past 5 years. In 1950, thanks to WWII and the demand for vehicles Detroit hit their population peak. BY 2010 the population of the city had fallen 60% due to the troubles of the auto industry. Liberal polices had nothing to do with it. Poor design and terrible quality control is to blame. When "Lee" Iacocca took over Chrysler he famously cut expenses by cutting back on design, R & D and the engineering staff. The result was some terrible cars that about killed the company. Look at all the car lines that GM terminated. Had nothing to do with liberal policies but Detroit took the hit from all those people leaving.

Actually have to agree with some of what Louise wrote but he forgot that after World War II we, WE, were the only game on the planet for autos and heavy equipment. The end of the 1960s and 1970s saw the Japanese, Germans, French, and Italians becoming economic rivals.
