Ransom virus

Yes, I am busy and we needed 60 of them. I obviously downloaded and burned the first one for free but do not have the time to waste burning 60 of them. Thanks! Originally Posted by DTexan

No I what do not get is why he paid for something he could have downloaded for free.
Even with over night next day shipping, in that time he could have downloaded WebConverger which is free from distrowatch, then burned the copies needed.

As he pointed out, he bought 1 copy.. he copied it for the others. So cloning 59 more disks either his or the way I said it would be same time.

Not to mention EVERY ONE of those distro's listed on that site for 2-5 dollars is free from distrowatch..
I did not pay for one and make copies. You can download the ISO for free (which I did) and burned it a CD so I could test it to make sure it would work as expected in my environment.

Spear88 you are correct, I do not have time to burn 60 discs as I have too many other things going one. So, I did make my company pay for 60 disc's and shipping. However, I do appreciate the tips on streamlining the process using Clonezilla from Gpop.

I had the same virus a while back. I had to unplug the internet connection, go to another computer and download Maleware Bites to a memory stick then download on the infected computer. Ran it and it fixed the problem. It also found a few other things that needed removed as well. Originally Posted by asfva

I once found old style DOS code that allowed you to create a profile manually from the Dos prompt

I stopped using windows a few years ago. I spend less time fixing things, rebooting the computer and waiting for updates and definitely a lot less virus and malware.

You had a hijacker malware....restore points don't work with it, it will be back soon.best way is to run in safe mode and run malwarebyte...make sure it is up-to-date or else your just wasting time.
